iMotors and Portnoo Market Garden Volunteer at Big Beach Clean 2025
iMotors and Portnoo Market Garden volunteered
at Rossnowlagh Beach on Sunday as part of Ireland's largest coastal cleanup
initiative.
The three-day nationwide campaign, running from 19th-21st
September and organised by Clean Coasts with sponsorship from Kia Ireland,
mobilised communities across the country for one of Ireland's largest
volunteer-driven environmental efforts.
iMotors and Portnoo Market Garden joined
forces with the Friends of Rossnowlagh volunteer group and local
residents to participate in Sunday's cleanup. The Friends of Rossnowlagh, who
regularly monitor and maintain the coastline throughout the year, warmly
welcomed the additional support for their ongoing conservation work and guided
the crew through the cleanup.
The Rock Environmental kindly offered to take the
waste away, ensuring all gathered litter was properly removed and disposed of.
Among the items collected were deodorant cans, flip flops, dirty nappies,
ropes, shoes, glasses, crisp packets, bottles and bottle lids, and cigarette
butts - highlighting the diverse range of waste that finds its way onto
Ireland's beaches.
"Events like this are vital for raising environmental
consciousness and protecting our beautiful coastline for future
generations," said Seamus McLaughlin, director of iMotors. "I
was particularly grateful that Barrie from Portnoo Market Garden, our brand
ambassador, was present on the day. His enthusiasm really helped motivate more
people to get involved in this important environmental work."
Following the cleanup, Barrie from Portnoo Market
Garden said: “Cleanups like this are about more than just collecting rubbish,
they’re about protecting marine life, keeping our beaches safe and enjoyable
for everyone, and reminding ourselves of the responsibility we all share in
caring for our environment. Every piece of litter removed helps preserve the
beauty and health of our coasts for future generations.”
The event reflects the growing momentum behind Ireland's
coastal conservation efforts. Last year's campaign saw more than 15,000
volunteers remove over 95 tonnes of litter from beaches and
waterways across 600 cleanup locations nationwide.

Kia place
sustainability at the core of their business strategy with a long-term goal of
Carbon Neutrality by 2045. As part of this initiative, Kia is dedicated to
using recycled materials in vehicle production, including recycled ocean waste.
Kia is a global supporter of The Ocean Cleanup, a non-profit organisation
dedicated to developing and scaling technologies to combat plastic pollution in
the world's oceans. The plastic recovered from these operations is currently
recycled and upcycled for use in the production of Kia EVs and by 2030, 20% of
all Kia vehicle plastics will come from recycled materials.
The Big Beach Clean demonstrates how local partnerships
between businesses, community groups and environmental organisations can create
meaningful impact in protecting Ireland's coastal heritage.
